Community Guidelines

Buttons is a place for creators and the people who love their work. We want you to feel free to create, connect, and be yourself — and safe enough to want to come back. These Guidelines work alongside our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. By using Buttons you agree to follow them.

• Be kind. Treat everyone with respect. Healthy disagreement is welcome; harassment, bullying, threats and hate are not.
• Be real. Don't impersonate others and don't spread deliberate misinformation.
• Be yourself. Only post content that's yours or that you have permission to share. Respect the intellectual-property rights of others.
• Be safe. Don't dox, threaten, or encourage self-harm. Look out for people in your community.

The following content is banned anywhere on Buttons and will result in removal, permanent account termination, and where appropriate, reports to law enforcement:

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): any content that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers anyone under 18. This includes simulated, animated, or fictional depictions, “age-play” scenarios, and adults posing as minors.
• Non-consensual intimate imagery: content that depicts nudity or sexual activity where the person did not consent to being recorded or to the content being shared, including “revenge porn”, voyeurism, and hidden-camera content.
• Human trafficking, exploitation and coercion: content that facilitates or appears to facilitate modern slavery, forced labor, or trafficking in any form.
• Violence and real-world harm: threats, incitement to violence, terrorism and extremism, sadistic violence, or content that celebrates mass violence, self-harm, or suicide.
• Hate: content that attacks, dehumanizes, or calls for discrimination against people based on protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, etc.).
• Illegal goods and services: drugs, firearms, counterfeit goods, stolen data, or content that facilitates fraud, scams, or money laundering.
• Bestiality and necrophilia.

Buttons supports consensual adult content from verified creators. Adult content may only be posted by creators who have completed age and identity verification and agreed to our additional creator terms. If you publish or appear in adult content, all of the following must be true:

• Everyone who appears is at least 18 years old at the time of the recording, and has given clear, written, revocable consent to appear and to have the content distributed on Buttons.
• You can produce proof of age and consent (such as 2257-compliant records in the U.S., or equivalent documentation elsewhere) promptly on request.
• Adult content is marked as adult and properly tagged so it can be age-gated.
• No content depicts or appears to depict minors, non-consensual acts, or any of the prohibited categories in section 3.

Revoked consent means the content must come down. If someone who appears in your content asks you to remove it, remove it promptly; if they ask us, we will act on that request.

• No doxing. Don't share someone's home address, phone number, ID documents, or other private information without clear permission.
• No targeted harassment. Coordinating pile-ons, following someone across the platform to harass them, or repeated unwanted contact are all banned.
• Respect privacy. Don't record or photograph people who haven't consented.
• Self-harm and suicide. We allow discussion in a supportive or educational way, but not content that encourages, glorifies, or provides step-by-step instructions for self-harm or suicide. If you're struggling, please reach out to a local crisis line — we link to resources in our Help Center.

• Be who you say you are. No impersonation accounts. Parody accounts must be clearly labeled.
• No spam or scams. Don't send bulk unsolicited messages, phishing links, or “get rich quick” schemes. Don't sell access to artificially inflated follower counts, likes, or subscriptions.
• No platform manipulation. Don't abuse engagement mechanics, reporting tools, or the creator-payment system.

Only post content that you created or have permission to use. Don't re-upload someone else's work as your own, strip watermarks, or share paid content outside the creator's subscription. To report copyright infringement, see our DMCA Policy.

Buttons is only for people aged 18 and above. Accounts found to belong to minors will be removed. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, please report it immediately so we can act. Content that sexualizes minors is treated with zero tolerance — it will be removed, reported to the authorities as required by law, and the accounts involved permanently terminated.

When we find or receive a report of a violation, we may:

• Remove or restrict the content.
• Label or age-gate content.
• Issue a warning or feature limitation to the account.
• Suspend or permanently terminate the account.
• Withhold or claw back related payouts where fraud or serious harm is involved.
• Report illegal conduct to law enforcement where required or appropriate.

We try to apply our rules consistently and proportionately, taking into account context, severity, and history. If you believe we got a decision wrong, you can appeal through our Complaints Policy.

Use the in-app Report option on any post, comment, message, or profile to flag content to us. For urgent child-safety reports, contact your local authorities alongside reporting to us.
